I'm still buzzing from BAM! over the weekend. I don't have a complete recap ready to share yet, but I can tell you that you'll start to see even more & more international attention for this festival from next year.
It's set outside the sublime Renaissance-era Villa Contarini near Venice, and a stone's throw from Padova. Obviously, a largely Italian demographic but with increasingly international exhibitors and attendees, I felt right at home immediately with many familiar faces and new friends in a beautiful environment packed with passionate cyclists of all ages and backgrounds. Lots of families, too!
The guys at CYCLED Project called it the Woodstock of bikes. I'd have to agree to comparison is pretty on point. There is no main race or ride, and the exhibitors' stands are all small and cute + largely smaller brands and brands presented via local dealers like Ritchey & Chiru by the self-avowed Venetian bike mecca Scavezzon Biciclette.
Thank you to Andrea of BAM! and Luca and Silvio of CYCLED Project for having me down & I'm already dreaming of when I can return with more colleagues & clients in 2027!
and thank you for reading,
Jon

Shift Cycling Culture's ATHLETES MEETUP | How to Talk About Climate Impact

Why Human Intuition Is Still Science’s Greatest Tool In The Age Of AI

"An important distinction between what an LLM does (string together words in a cogent way) versus what a scientist does (ask questions that grasp at the nature of reality) is that the LLM can’t tell the difference. [...] Yes, we bring our baggage to the process, our biases, our agendas. But we also bring our intuition, meta-level self-awareness and creativity, the crucial things that AIs still lack."
