Hello!
I'm back on deck after a beautiful week off in Italy.
I was there for our friends Marzia & Stefano's wedding. Kristy & I brought the tandem & had some great adventures. : ) ...And only 1 flat tire ; ) Special props to Kristy for her hard-nosed determination on (and off) the bike too! We had some burly climbs and we both really had to dig deep to get our fully loaded tandem up over those inclines! One reward at the summit was a castle, still owned by the same family for centuries, which inspired us to get tattoos while in Torino!
Looking ahead, the last weeks of summer are looming and September is already right around the corner. I'm kicking it off with a bike industry gathering in Dresden from the 6th–9th & the 4th annual Bohemian Border Bash Camp from the 9th till the 11th. I'll also be back in the USA the 19th-26th to see my kids for the 26th time since this time of year, 4 years ago. Beyond that, Grinduro Germany is on the horizon and Bespoked in London as well!
Lastly, I'd like to tease that another big event is coming to Amsterdam in December (more about that soon!), and Twotone will also be turning 8! More about that soon too, but go ahead and pick out spots for your party tattoos! ; )
As always, thank you for reading & sharing this newsletter!
wishing you a good week ahead,
Jon

The Sule Kangangi Memorial Fund
Sule Kangangi was not only the Captain of Team AMANI but also a leader in African cycling. And, I'd add, cycling globally. This Gofundme aims to help his grieving family bear the short and long-term costs of losing a dear husband and father. 💔

With only 8 weeks to go to Bespoked No.11, the Bespoked team are super excited to announce that ticket sales are officially open.
p.s.
Bespoked is also looking for volunteers!

Over 260 German cities band together to demand 30 km/h speed zones

The Magic of Your First Work Friends
"Early-career connections can be life-defining. For young people entering the work force today, the connections over Zoom are shaky."
p.s.
Speaking of work friends, Twotone's PM opening is still open!
In Praise of Bewilderment
Relatively random link here included to remind you to make friends with those that don't think like you; hell, maybe even those that bewilder you ; )
"In the absence of bewilderment, we become like tyrants: inflexible, certain, over-confident. Rigid oppositional binaries reign supreme. Religion vs. Science, Left vs. Right, Us vs. Them. Change is nearly impossible—the only way it can happen is through intensification of what we already believe, which isn’t really change so much as acceleration."

Tales from the Echobox Nº007
"[...] by putting a critical yet positive message & content out there with a thought-provoking conversation & meaningful music: we hope to do our part to share our joy and that of those that we invite to the show!"
Kike & I were honored to be interviewed by Echobox on the Patta blog! Our next episode is on Sept 15th!
Here's to being hard-nosed & double-exposed this week!
...(no, I'm not entirely sure what that means either other than to stay determined yet open to new insights)
