Steve Bryant is another person who also has a cool weekly newsletter. Recently, he wrote about often when someone is trying to to explain something, he or she usually makes at least two cognitive errors that are detrimental to their communication:
- They don’t understand what the listener knows
- They try to persuade instead of explain
TL;DR?
Persuasion is manipulation. Explanation is empathy. It’s the latter that pays fatter (I'd wager more sustainable, as well) dividends. And Bryant's simple heuristic helps guide his work:
- What does the audience know?
- How do they feel?
- How do they want to feel?
- How will the product help them feel that?
- How does the product work?
How do you think you can empathise & explain rather than inadvertently trying to persuade & manipulate?

Screening: Silk Road Mountain Race and Q&A
We're screening a short documentary in Amsterdam next week. It was produced by PEdALED about the first edition of the Silk Road Mountain Race.
Twotone Amsterdam will be hosting the ride starting at 9am for everyone that wants to join. It will be around 2hrs and end at NewWerktheater just in time for brunch.
Brunch begins at noon followed by the film screening which should last around 30mins. Then we'll have a Q&A with riders and organizers.
This will be a great opportunity for anyone thinking of entering to learn more about the second edition of the race!
