Our 12 Year Gear Pre-Order is Up! Also featured: Last week, I went nearly straight from Türkiye to Tampa with a less-than-24-hour layover in Amsterdam. Above are images from the trip, including a dystopian sky-taxi launch, my friend Erik's postal-worker bike, and the Critical Mass Halloween edition!

With its trademark rhyming subject lines, Twotone's reader-supported newsletter has been a valuable gateway to the most interesting aspects of the bike world, a source for new & compelling ideas, and a trusted community resource for more than 1,200 readers worldwide since 2015. Thank you for being part of it!

On 4 December, Twotone will turn 12, and we'll have our traditional company party with great food, beverages, custom tattoo flash for the occasion and live music performances. Save the date!

We'll share announcements related to the party's catering, drinks, inks & bands, but first, we're announcing this year's annual limited merch drop.

We teamed up with local Amsterdam-based artist Franko Rosas, who originally hails from Mexico. He incorporated the solitude of the Sonoran Desert and drew much of his inspiration from the frontier and border between Mexico and the USA. Combined with our shared passion for moving things forward on two wheels, the iconography also pays homage to this year's theme: 'never sacrifice style for speed, especially when more style is what you really need.' 😎

The drop:

The first 25 pre-orders will get a free patch & every pre-order placed before the 16th will get a free sticker and a pin!

The pre-order window closes on the 16th, but the store will remain open until quantities sell out. We'll have gear for sale at the party on Dec 4th too!

The shirts & jackets will be screened by our friends at Katoenfabriek in Utrecht, the caps made by Vera Cycling in Roubaix, France, and bandanas here in Amsterdam by Screens.ink. Patches are also made in NL by patchdesign.nl, pins by our good friend Peter Giljam & his son in Amsterdam and our stickers from our trusted supplier, stickerapp.nl.

The entire collection will be available at our party on 4 December from 19:00, and any extras will be available via our webstore thereafter.

Thank you, everyone, for supporting Twotone over the years, and we look forward to celebrating with you in just over a month!

As always, thank you for reading & wishing you a nice week ahead,

Jon

The Twotone x Franko Rosas 12 Year Anniversary Collection

Originally hailing from Tijuana, Amsterdam-based artist & illustrator Franko Rosas is a regular officemate of ours at Workspace 6, and this year, we teamed up for our 12 Year Anniversary drop! He incorporated the solitude of the Sonoran desert and drew much of his inspiration from the frontier and border between Mexico and the USA. Combined with our shared passion for moving things forward on two wheels, the iconography also pays homage to this year's theme: never sacrifice style for speed, especially when more style is what you really need. Pre-orders close on the 16th, and the chore jacket is pre-order only!

Europoor, America Rich

Europoor, America Rich
Americans in Europe feel rich. Europeans in America feel poor. Both are looking at the same imbalance, but from opposite ends. Rebalancing is how the West builds allied scale.

"If you spend time online, you’ve probably come across the word “Europoor.” Americans use it to mock Europeans who earn little, live in small apartments without A/C, and never seem to buy anything. Meanwhile, Europeans have their share of terrible stories set in America: unaffordable housing, medical bankruptcies, and lower life expectancy." Yet another insightful piece from Nicolas Colin! As a European originally from the USA writing this while currently in the States, I certainly feel the burn for sure.

Luis Mendo's Reflections on Putting Common Sense Before Doctrine

United Against Greed
A short reflection on my relationship with politics and my strategy of improving the world by putting common sense before doctrine.

"I think it's much more urgent to educate ourselves and others. Also to protect and love. What's the point of croaking louder in a bucket full of frogs?" Always a pleasure to read Luis' ideas and admire his illustrations. Check it out here.

FOOL’S GOLD | The Strange History of Gold Records

FOOL’S GOLD
The Strange History of Gold Records

"For decades, gold records have been one of the music industry’s most recognizable symbols of success. Framed in recording studios, record label offices, and musicians’ homes, these shiny awards commemorate hundreds of thousands of records sold. But there’s a strange detail about many of them: the record inside the frame isn’t necessarily the music of the artist receiving the award." Pretty interesting!

Radness

Lowlands Crew goes to Rad Race Last Wo/Man Standing Part.2/2

"Berlin's go‑kart track went dark, strobes fired, and the Lowlands crew, found themselves in the middle of Rad Race Last Wo/Man Standing's final edition on this circuit. Crashes, quarter‑final heartbreak, and a cinematic men's final where Alec Briggs and Thibault Dupont turned the last laps into a chess match on fixed gear, ending with champagne and the crowd pouring onto the track."
