Do We Still Need Bike Trade Shows?

Do we still need bike trade shows?
With Eurobike in an identity crisis and more diverse events rising, the wider industry is assessing what shows are for and which are worth attending.

More of a conclusive & certainly longer read on the often over-polarised Linkedin post topic but reaches the same conclusion: some small shows are doing well & though some brands bailed on bigger shows – namely, Eurobike – not everyone is bailing. In fact, everyone still goes but doesn't exhibit. TL;DR? Yes, we do still need bike trade shows! See you at Velofollies!

Gravel Earth Series Calendar 2026

I noticed a new Traka event in Belgium, The River, and dove into the Gravel Earth Series. There are also 45 global gravel events on the calendar in '26 qualifying for UCI Gravel Worlds slated for 10-11 October, 2026 in Nannup, Western Australia. Seems like the struggles that bike shows may be having don't apply to gravel! Gotta be a clue in there somewhere.

Dutch Tracklocross Cup

Very fun initiative reminiscent of the the Vast Verzet Bokaal from back in the the day, aka the Dutch Fixed Crit Series. More info on the DTCX here. You'll see me at the New Year's Eve Oliebollen Cross!

Europe’s luxurious new ‘business-class’ sleeper bus between Amsterdam and Zurich

We tested Europe’s luxurious new ‘business-class’ sleeper bus between Amsterdam and Zurich
A new overnight bus service in the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland offers comfort and sustainability

Wild! "Last month Swiss startup Twiliner launched a fleet of futuristic sleeper buses, and I’ve come to Amsterdam to try them out. Running three times a week between Amsterdam and Zurich (a 12-hour journey via Rotterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg and Basel), with a Zurich to Barcelona service (via Berne and Girona) launching on 4 December, the company’s flat-bed overnight sleeper buses are the first such service in Europe."

Max Riese's FRTHR Perserverance 2025 Race Recap

FRTHR Perseverance 2025 bikepacking race
A bikepacking race with hard off-road sectors and hike-a-bikes in the Pyrnees between France, Andorra and Spain. Hardest event on the planet?

Max's love letter to Camille's sadistic 'cycling' events has me wistfully longing to carry my bike up craggy climbs in the Pyrenees. That's saying a lot!

SOUR's Purple Pie Launches

SOUR's newest offering, based on the Purple Haze platform, features a Pinion Smart Shift 12-speed gearbox and belt drive system for low maintenance, earning it the Best Gravel award at the DT Swiss Craft Bike Days and making it officially available. Check it out here.

Paul Veugen's Detail App Wins iPad App of The Year

I know Paul from all our OG Roll Call Amsterdam rides back more than a decade ago. This is the 3rd successful venture I've seen Paul embark upon. Chapeau!

Emmanuel Nataf's Torino-Nice Rally Recap

Emmanuel Nataf's images from his Torino-Nice Rally (TNR) journey aboard his Quirk Suprachub have me reminiscing about my favorite bikepacking route. TNR turns 10 next year. I'd love to do it again!
